FRENCH CONSULATE IN N.Z.

“CARRYING ON AS USUAL”

(From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, June 25.

“The consulate is carrying on as usual” was the statement made from the office of the French Consul (M. Andre Pouquet) today. No other communication was made. The inquiry made at the consulate was whether M. Pouquet was responsible to the Bordeaux Government. The secretary replied that no statement was being made at present. It is understood, however, that all the diplomatic courtesies to the consul are being continued and that he has been in touch with the French National Committee formed in London in opposition to the Bordeaux Government.
