HEROIC EFFORTS OF FRENCH ARMY
N.Z. SENDS MESSAGE OF ENCOURAGEMENT (Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, June 14. A cablegram to the Premier of France (M. Paul Reynaud) was sent tonight by the Prime Minister of New Zealand (the Hon. P. Fraser). The message is as follows: — “The Government and people of New Zealand have watched with tense anxiety and boundless admiration the heroic efforts of the French Army and people in their struggle against the ruthless invasion. At this moment we desire to assure you that the cause of France is more than ever in our hearts and to reaffirm in most solemn form our determination to pursue the conflict into which France and the British Commonwealth, with their Allies, have been forced in defence of justice and freedom until victory is attained. Our cause is the cause of humanity and in that cause we send our fraternal greetings and encouragement to republican and democratic France in her hour of trial.” '
