WEDDING

SLEEMAN-HORRELL

The marriage took place at the Holy Trinity Church, Gore, recently, of Emily Margaret, third daughter of Mr and Mrs H. W. C. Korrell, “Fairview,” Mandeville, and William Fraser, third son of Mr and Mrs E. J. Sleeman, Wellington, and late of Dunedin. The Rev. W. W. Powell performed the ceremony and Mr R. Matthews played the organ. Friends of the bride had decorated the church in asters, sweet peas and autumn tints. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of deep cream crinkle chiffon over a honey coloured satin slip, the hem of which was pleated. The bodice was shirred to match the upper 1 part of the long sleeves which finished with points over the hands. The skirt was full and fell softly into a train from big bustle bows. Her veil of uncut tulle fell to form a second train from a headdress made in the shape of a lily. She carried a shower bouquet of lilies and deep cream roses. The bridesmaids were Miss Ngaire Horrell, sister of the bride, and Miss Jessie Gibson, of Dunedin. They wore twin frocks of gulf-stream _ georgette; the bodices were close-fitting with heart-shaped necklines and small Empire collars, and the short puffed sleeves were edged with lace. The skirts were flared and gored with black lace insertion defining each gore and black lace edged the scalloped and slightly shirred hem. They wore circlets of autumn leaves and apricot coloured abutilons in their hair, and carried bouquets in matching colours of dahlias, abutilons and autumn leaves. Mr F. Maxted, of Invercargill, was best man, and Mr R. Sleeman, brother of the bridegroom, was groomsman. Mr Albert Horrell and Mr Douglas Checketts (Invercargill) were ushers. The three-tier cake was made and decorated by Mrs W. Hargest, aunt of the bride.

The reception was held at the Cosy Tea Rooms where the guests were received by Mesdames Horrell and Sleeman. Mrs Horrell wore a snuff-brown wool georgette frock over which she wore a brown angora fleck tweed coat. Her hat was a matching brown felt with gipsy gold plume. Her shoulder spray was of autumn tints and berries. Mrs Sleeman wore a model frock in black cloque heavily braided and finished with a diamante clasp. With this she wore a black wool edge-to-edge coat and black model hat and furs. Her shoulder spray was of autumn tints and crab-apple berries. For travelling the bride wore a frock of russet tan coin spot satin and over it a coat in the same toning of an angora fleck boucle, a small black veiled hat and accessories of black. Mr and Mrs W. F. Sleeman will live in Invercargill. Before hei' marriage the bride was entertained at a gift afternoon given by Mrs J. H. McLeod and Mrs W. D. McLeod, and at a kitchen evening in the Mandeville hall by the people of the district. She was also entertained by the Mandeville Women’s Institute. In the evening Mr and Mrs H. W. C. Horrell entertained friends and relations at a dance in the Mandeville hall. During the evening items were given by Mrs Phyllips (Dacre), Miss Stewart (Pyramid). Misses Hargest (3, Kennington), Miss Joan Milne (Gore), and Miss McKinnel (Gore). Mr Horace Horrell was master of ceremonies.
