ANGLING
SUCCESS OF GORE TEAM The annual competition between the Invercargill, Gore, Mataura and Wyndham Angling Clubs for the Quadrangular Shield was held on the Waimea stream, the contest this year being controlled by the Gore Club. The fish were slow to move, but the aggregate catch for the 16 anglers engaged was fairly good in the circumstances, the total being 106 and the weight 1601bs 13ozs. F. Hoffman (Gore) secured the best basket, 21 fish, the highest weight, 281bs lOozs, and annexed the medal. The shield was won by Gore. The teams were later entertained at tea, which was followed by a social hour in the Returned Soldiers’ Association’s rooms. Messrs R. Bain (Wyndham), G. Hoffman (Invercargill), and G. R. Amos (Mataura) extended congratulations to the Gore team on its success. Results:—
