ON INVERCARGILL TRACKS

Remembo’s Pleasing Effort MONDELLO IN FINE FORM Most of the Dunedin candidates were worked at Invercargill' on Saturday morning When the course proper, with the poles about 12 feet out, was in fast order. The weather was fine and with the going first-class several very sound trials were registered with the efforts of Mondello, Wild Career, Doubleack, Sailing Lady, Remembo and Boswell pleasing most. On his own Colonel Rouge (Barclay) ran six furlongs in lmin 22 2-ssec, the last half in 55 2-ssec. He was not asked for his best. Milford (Forde) and Sparkle (Strathem) galloped a mile in lmin 50 l-ssec, the last half in 54 4-ssec and they did it well. Sparkle shaded her mate at the post but Milford covered extra ground. Ocean Singer (Low) and Green Locket (Home) ran the last five of six furlongs in lmin Bsec, the last half in Lucky Feather (Ellis) and Eire’s Ruin (Forde) beat My Song (Preston) over six furlongs in lmin 18 3-ssec, the last half in 53 3-ssec. Lucky Feather is a big long-striding galloper and has improved a great deal this season. Both he and Eire’s Ruin have good novice prospects. Doubleack (Humphries) was under a strong hold in finishing with Jedburgh (Barclay) at the end of a mile in lmin 46 4-ssec, the first two in 27 l-ssec, three in 41sec, the half in 54 4-ssec and the last half in 56sec. Doubleack’s work has been of a really high standard but it is very unlikely that he will start the first day at Wingatui. Amelita (Home) was under a nice hold in running a mile with Ardmayle (Ellis) in lmin 49sec, the last half in 55sec. This was one of Amelita’s best efforts for some time as she could have done a lot better. REMEMBO PLEASES Boswell (Humphries) and Remembo (Barclay) beat Sea Lady (Preston) by a couple of lengths at the end of six furlongs in lmin 16 4-ssec, .the first furlong in 12 l-ssec, the two in 25sec and the last half in 52 4-ssec. In spite of the fast pace early Remembo stayed on particularly well and it was an excellent gallop on his part. Sea Lady stopped after being in front in the middle stages and Boswell ‘did not do any better than he had to. Mona’s Song (W. F. Ellis) and Sailing Lady (R. E. Humphries) were matched over a mile and a-quarter. They ran the first two in 28sec, the half in 55 2-5 sec, the five in lmin 9sec, six in lmin 22sec and the 10 furlongs in 2min 15sec. The last mile was run in lmin 47sec, and the last half in 53sec. Sailing Lady was doing it the better at the finish, but it was a sound trial on the part of both. Heidleberg (Home) finished ahead of Ortyx (Ward) at the end of six furlongs in lmin 22 3-ssec. The pace was on in the early stage the first two taking 25 sec, the three in 37 2-ssec but they were stopping over the last half which took 57 3-ssec. Blissful Lady (Barclay) and Gold Robe (Ellis) beat Pink Bond (Preston) over six furlongs in lmin 17 4-ssec, the last half in 51 4-ssec. Gold Robe was doing his work nicely while this was Blissful Lady’s best effort for some time.

Silkwood (Connor) jumped off at the six furlong peg and was joined by Royal Money (Preston) at the five. The full journey was run in Imin 20 2-ssec, the last five in lmin 6sec and the last half in 52 4-ssec. Royal Money shaded his mate at the post but Silkwood has come on very quickly as she has only been in work a week or two. WILD CAREER RECOVERED Wild Career (Humphries) and Mondello (Ellis) registered the best six furlong gallop of the morning. They ran the first furlong in 12 2-ssec, two furlongs in 24 2-ssec, three in 36 4-ssec, the half in 49 2-ssec, and the full journe; in lmin 16sec, the last half taking 51 3-ssec. Wild Career, who injured a foot last week is right again, and he was right with his mate at the finish. Mondello is one of the most brilliant workers at headquarters. Guste (Low), Liberate (Taylor) and Spendthrift (Boyle) were schooled over four hurdles together. Guste and Spendthrift made all the running and jumped together right through in sound style. Liberate was inclined to jump much more carefully. Aspire was permitted to do easy work on the plough. She is still on the big side and will not be anywhere near her best if produced during the holidays. TRACK WORK AT WINGATUI COMBAT SHOWS UP IN SPRINT TASK It was very hot at Wingatui on Saturday morning for training operations, and the tracks fast, the sand one being very dusty, and there was not sufficient breeze to carry the dust away, reports The Evening Star, Dunedin. Combat was going better than Gusto over six furlongs on the sand in lmin 17 2-ssec, the first three taking 36 3Withdrawal sprinted three fin-longs on the same track in 40 l-ssec, and Foxy followed a little later in 39sec. Our Empire and Lady Constance were companions in a five-furlong spin on the sand, and after running the first two in 24sec completed the task together in 63 3-ssec. Valantuu, looking well after several weeks’ spell, sprinted three furlongs on the sand in 39 3-ssec. 1 After running the first two furlongs in 24 4-ssec Palencia and Rondini completed five furlongs on the sand in 66 4Nightwings was going much better than Gusterina at the conclusion of nine furlongs on the sand in 2min 10 l-ssec There was no pace on until after passing the five-furlong post, and the last half-mile was run in 54 2-ssec. Hanlon’s head was just in front of Noresman’s at the post after running seven furlongs on the sand in lmin 31 1- but Norseman could have done better. Roseman easily held Made Money over the final stages of a similar journey in lmin 31 2-ssec, after beginning slowly. Half and Half ran five furlongs in the centre of the course in 67 4-ssec. Disband and Irish Colleen, after running the first furlong in 12sec, completed half a mile on the course in 51 2- Disband winning the gallop easily. High Glee easily accounted for Very Happy at the end of five furlongs on the same track, in 67 3-ssec. Giggleswick (Hamill) jumped the brush double in front of the stands three times, and gave a good exhibition. He afterwards sprinted over three furlongs on the course in 43sec. McHeath (H. Powell), Pink Robe (A. Powell), and Pilot’s Love (F. Anning), were schooled over the two

hurdles along the back, - but the display was not a good one. z Night Scout (Hamill) gave a good exhibition in a round over three hurdles.
