Attlee) speaking at a conference at Durham today emphasized the need for world social justice after the war. Declaring that it was essential that enduring peace should follow, Major Attlee said: ‘‘We stand in defence of our principles. We want to secure for the world freedom and social justice. No good trade unionist can be an isolationist and we must stand or fall together with the other peoples. That is my answer to those people who ask why we meddle in Continental affairs.” CRESS TO REPRESENT AUCKLAND SANDERS CUP CONTEST. (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 16. .The new Jellicoe class boat the Cress has been selected to represent Auckland in the Sanders Cup contest. Entries for the Southland championship and handicap tennis tournament to be held on December 25, 26 and 27 have been so few that officials of the Southland Lawn Tennis Association have mentioned the possibility of abandoning the tournament. It has been decided to extend the closing date, and entries will now be accepted until 5 p.m. today. The draw is to be made at a meeting of the management committee this evening.
