CENTENNIAL GAMES IN FEBRUARY VISIT BY SOUTHLAND ATHLETES PROPOSED A proposal to organize a party of Southland athletes, bushcraft , competitors and officials to visit the Centennial games, which will be held in Wellington on February 16 and 17 was discussed at a meeting of the executive of the Southland Centre of the New Zealand Athletic, Cycling and Axemen’s Union held on Saturday night. A sub-committee was set up to get in touch with competitors and, providing sufficient support was forthcoming, to organize the trip. The committee consisted of Messrs H. E. T. Sutton (convener), V. Vail and W. Young. It was stated that a visit by a party of athletes would not only help to “boost” Southland in the North Island but would also reduce materially the travelling expenses of individual competitors. . There were present Messrs E. W. Stevens (chairman), J. Alexander, J. Balloch, J. T. Qualter, V. Vail, F. J. Ashley, H. E. T. Sutton, R. G. Diack, W. Anderson, A. C. Cushnie, W. Young, R. Tippett, M.
