YOUNG FARMERS’ EVENTS
MANY ENTRIES FROM NORTH JUDGING ATTRACTS MUCH INTEREST Young farmers had a strenuous day with their judging competitions at the show yesterday. There was a great number of entries in all classes, including many from the North Island, Canterbury, and Otago, as well as from the Southland clubs. Good organization enabled the events to be carried out according to schedule. The last event of the day was the judging of the Clydesdales, which attracted many entries from competitors who showed a sound knowledge of the good and weak points of the breed. There was a big attendance of interested spectators. The competition was judged by the well-known breeder Mr T. Carruthers, of Central Otago. At the conclusion of the events Mr Carruthers gave a demonstration, explaining the main points of breeding and conformation. The competitions resulted: Romney rams.—A. Gardyne (Waikaka Club) 1, H. G.
