APPEAL MEETS WITH FINE RESPONSE
FUNDS FOR PATRIOTIC PURPOSES
The appeal for funds for patriotic purposes that was conducted in Invercargill yesterday met with a splendid response, a total of £152 being collected.
Mr W. Grieve, president of the Invercargill Metropolitan Patriotic Committee, stated last night that he was very pleased with the effort made to raise funds for soldiers’ comforts. Collectors at the Royal Show and on the streets worked hard and were very successful. The-committee appreciated the support given and advised those who had bought badges to wear them for two more days to avoid inconvenience. The committee expects to be very busy this morning and requires the help of 20 women collectors, who should report to the office of Mr L. S. Alsweiler between 9 and 9.30 o’clock.
