QUEENSTOWN
SUCCESSFUL FANCY FAIR A very successful fancy fair in aid of the funds of St. Peter’s Anglican Church was held in the Garrison Hall. There was a good attendance and the wellstocked stalls and sideshows were well patronized. The Mayor (Dr W. A. Anderson) officially opened the fair, and wished the helpers every success. During the evening a short concert was given. Those who took part were Mesdames W. A. Anderson and Martin Smith (pianoforte duet), Miss E.. Curtis (dance, Fantasia), Miss D. Harris (tap dance). At the end of the fair a dance was held, the music being supplied by Mr G. Mitchell. Dr Anderson was master of ceremonies.
The stall-holders were:—Baby stall, Mrs Martin Smith, and Miss R. Russell; sweets, Mrs W. A. Anderson and Miss E. Curtis; cakes, Misses B. Farrant and A. Nelson; apron stall, Mrs Sharp; handkerchief tree, Miss F. Tailentire; novelty stall, Mesdames Griffen and Shearer; shilling stall, Mrs H. Sew Hoy; children’s stall, Mrs Monson and Miss Earland; sheep guessing, Mrs W. D. Warren; flowers, Miss O’Leary; dips, Mrs H. Tomkies; soft drinks, Misses D. Herbert and S. Robins. MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING The following are the highest scores in the weekly shoot of the Queenstown Territorial Force Association: —N. M. Hall 74, L. Veint 74, W. A. Stewart 73, M. Bennison 71, Mrs L. Veint 71, L. Lewis 70, R. Anderson 68, L. Pittaway 67, J. Keen 67, A. Griffen 66, J. Eason 66. PERSONAL Mr and Mrs J. Stallard, of Christchurch, who are taking over the management of Eichardts Hotel, have arrived in Queenstown to take up their duties.
