COLLECTION OF 1644 EGGS
EFFORT OF GORE DISTRICT SCHOOLS
A total number of 1644 eggs has been collected at the various Gore district schools during the last few days for the health camp campaign. These eggs will be sold locally at the wholesale rate of 1/1 a dozen, so that the sale of 137 dozen eggs will raise an appreciable sum for the district health camp funds and enable more children to receive camp treatment. With 42 dozen, the Gore school headed the list, while £l/11/10 in cash was also collected. The pupils of the East Gore school brought in 18 J dozen eggs and 3/9 in cash, and at the Gore Convent school 19 dozen eggs were collected. A splendid effort was made by the pupils of the Pukerau school, 24 dozen eggs being collected. Mandeville collected 14 dozen, Knapdale 12J dozen, and Charlton seven dozen.
The medical officer has recommended 18 Gore district children to receive camp treatment, and 12 will attend the first camp at Omaui. The Gore sub-branch of the Health Camp Federation will hold a copper trail in Main street on December 15, while health stamps will also be on sale that day. Since this year’s campaign began on October 2 only £5/12/worth of health stamps has been sold,
