GROCERS’ ASSISTANTS’ UNION
OFFICERS ELECTED AT ANNUAL MEETING The following officers were electea at ffie annual meeting of the Southland Grocers’ Assistants’ Union:—President, Mr F. J. Logan; vice-president, Mr G. Robb; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. S. Whitty; executive committee, Messrs T. Townsend, A. G. Campbell, F. Pickering, E. Thompson, I. H. T. Watson; trustees, Messrs J. D. McKay and W. Stott; auditor, Mr H. M. Dunstan. The meeting recorded its appreciation of the services of the secretary and auditor. , , Mr F. J. Logan, president, presided over the large attendance. The meeting was held in the United Friendly Societies’ building. . Mr Logan said the union had finished the year with a credit balance. Good work had been done for the members, as claims for arrears of wages had exceeded the amount of contributions by the members. This had showed that the interests of members had been well cared for. Mr Logan thanked the members for their support. Mr F. J. Cunningham, who moved the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet, said the union was proud of its position. A great deal of credit was due to the secretary. A recommendation was made to the executive to consider the advisability of arranging a social function at each quarterly meeting.
