W. S. Botting (president of the Old Girls’ Association), members of the school board, and other friends. WOMEN’S DIVISION AT KAUANA On Wednesday, November 22, the members of the Kauana branch of the Wo.men’s Division paid a surprise visit to Mrs Bartlett in her new home. During the afternoon competitions were won by Mrs L. Cowie, Mrs G. McGillivray and Miss Baird. On behalf of those present Mrs King presented Mrs Bartlett with a bouquet and spoke of Mrs Bartlett’s untiring efforts to help the branch. On behalf of the branch Mrs R. Anderson, *jun., presented Mrs Bartlett with a pair of chrystal vases and hoped that she would not regard this as a farewell, but as an appreciation of the help she had given. Mrs Bartlett replied and the company dispersed after the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.” SOCIAL AT WAIMATUA There was an overflow attendance at Waimatua, when residents gathered to bid farewell to Captain G. P. Enright, who leaves shortly for the officers’ training camp at Trentham, where he will undergo a refresher course prior to being drafted to his command in the New Zealand special force. Mr C. Montague was chairman, and during the evening he presented Mr Enright, on behalf of his many friends, with a silver wristlet watch, a tobacco pouch and a sum of money. In doing so the chairman referred to the many good qualities of the guest and his support of all local institutions, football club, basketball club, and so on. He also alluded to the captain’s previous military services and wished him a speedy and safe return. Other speakers were Messrs J. Girvan, J. Green, J. Waddell and C. C. Selby. Mr Enright replied. 1 Dancing was enjoyed, music being supplied by Mr J. Reynolds, assisted by Messrs Burke and Niederer. . Mr C. Montague was master of monies.
