DEATH OF YOUNG WOMAN

SEVERE COMMENT MADE BY CORONER

(United Press Association)

AUCKLAND, November. 29. “It is a very sad thing that young lives should be thrown away by this abominable offence,” said the City Coroner, Mr F. K. Hunt, today in returning a verdict of death from peritonitis following sceptic abortion in the case of an 18-year-old girl. The Coroner assailed a witness, an hotel barman-porter, stating: “I think you are a hypocrite. You are the cause of this girl’s death beyond any doubt.” _ The evidence showed that the girl had been out with the man referred to on several occasions and that she had told a friend he was responsible for her condition.
