FIRE IN WANGANUI COUNCIL CHAMBERS
MUCH DAMAGE DONE TO ENGINEER’S OFFICE
(United Press Association) WANGANUI October 19.
A fire occurred in the Wanganui City Council Chambers building in which the offices of the City Engineer and staff are located, early this morning. It started in the supper room and a room of the ground floor used by the traffic inspectors and draughtsmen. Both were badly gutted and much damage was done in the engineer’s office and the drawings were burnt. The insurances on the building were £l4OO and on the fittings £445. Mr N. Annabell, a surveyor, lost his drawings and also his own instruments.
