GORE

TERRITORIAL FORCE TRAINING CONTINUED Members of the Gore company of territorials., are continuing their training in a very creditable manner in spite of the fact that all the company officers have enlisted and gone into camp at Burnham. Lieutenant Jardine is now carrying out the double task of training his platoon at Invercargill and the Gore trainees. The Class I reservists are being trained by reserve non-commis-sioned officers under the supervision of Lieutenant Horrell. This week the trainees were engaged in a strenuous round of physical exercises under the instruction of Mr A.G. Melville, and later musketry practice was held under the instruction of Lieutenant Jardine and the company noncommissioned officers, alternating with bayonet practice, which was conducted by Mr E. T. Eastwood. Tomorrow the company will join the remainder of the regiment at the weekend camp at Invercargill. They will leave Gore at 3 p.m. tomorrow and will return to Gore on Monday night. PERSONAL Tributes to the work Mr G. D. Robson were paid at the final meeting for the year of the Eastern Southland Rugby Football Sub-Union. Mr Robson has gone into camp at Bumham and the meeting decided to forward a letter to him congratulating him on the step he had taken. Mr Robson, it was stated, had been a keen member of the committee and had given excellent service.
