LOYAL REY AT OAMARU

MILLISLE HAS BRIGHT FUTURE PARISIENNE IS SET BIG TASK Nominations for the Invercargill Trotting Club’s meeting close at 5 p.m. today. Blair Athol D. C. Watts will probably drive Blair Athol in the New Zealand Trotting Cup. Faded Out Nelson Eddy was regarded as a certainty at New Brighton on Saturday, but after carrying the field along at a fast clip he faded out. Sister to Royal Silk

Twist, a recent winner, is a sister to the Auckland Cup winner Royal Silk, who is at the stud in Southland.

Bright Future

Loyal Rey, one of the most likely improvers in sight, will be in firm favour at Oamaru.

Change of Gait

Allan Wrack, who paid a big dividend when he won at the Otago Hunt meeting, will appear as a square-trotter at the Oamaru meeting. From Southland

Millisle, who has been nominated for the Oamaru meeting on Labour Day, has been doing good work at Invercargill. The Peter Moko gelding has shown great promise in the little racing he has done.

To Club’s Advantage The fact that King’s Play has been transferred to S. A. Edwards’s team was probably good news for the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club, for had Fine Art and King’s Play been bracketed in the New Zealand Cup they would probably have monopolized the betting. Stud News

Among the mares booked to visit the imported stallion, Dillon Hall, are the following: Tondeleyo, by Wrack— Estella Amos; Vanity Fair, by Wrack— Pearlchild; Reylena, by Rey de Oro —Franzalena; Taraire Lloyd, by Taraire—Marie Lloyd; Sister Maud, by Nelson Bingen—Lady Derby; Charity Belle, by Bellman—Charity; and Naval Base, by Man o’ War—Forward Maid. The following foalings to the imported sire, Sandydale, by Abbeydale—lsleen

McKinney, are reported: Arethusa, by Wrack—Trix Pointer, a filly; Slapfast, by Trampfast—The Apparent, a filly; Pearl Pointer by Logan Pointer —Pearlchild, a colt; and Hughenden Queen, by Nelson Derby—Childwood, a colt. Parisienne’s Task

Parisienne, back marker in this year s New Zealand Trotting Cup, is without a doubt the best mare in the country at the present time at the top of her form. Her task in the Cup race is, however, a most difficult one, while it is 18 years since a mare won a New Zealand Cup. This was Reta Peter, a straight-out trotter, who won in 1920 and again in 1921. A World’s Record

At the Syracuse (New York) meeting on August 31 a new world’s record for trotting teams was established by two great trotters in Greyhound and Rosalind Maid, who covered a mile in lmin 59sec, replacing the record of 2min 3Jsec made by Uhlan and Lewis Forest in 1912. Greyhound and Rosalind Maid were hitched to a pole-cart and before making their record the pair had been exercised together only once. They covered the first quarter-mile in Sljsec, a half-mile in lmin Isec, and six furlongs in lmin 30Asec. The middle halfmile was covered in 59sec and the last two furlongs in 282 sec. Fast times were the order of the meeting, where Clever Hanover, by Bunter—Sarah Hanover, trotted a mile in lmin 59jsec, and Her Ladyship, bv Abbedale —La Paloma, paced three successive heats in 2min, 2min I),sec, and 2min OJsec.
