QUEENSTOWN
MAGISTRATES COURT (Before Mr H. J. Dixon, S.M.) Thomas Hanning was charged with failing to keep a vehicle as close as practicable to the left side of the roadway. He pleaded guilty and in a letter to the Court pointed out that there was approximately three inches of snow covering the surface of the road which was frozen. This, he stated, made driving very difficult and as he was driving a heavy vehicle which on several occasions on the journey had had a tendency to skid he followed the wheel tracks on the return journey from Frankton that he had taken in going out.
After evidence for the prosecution had been heard, defendant was convicted and fined £2, with costs 10/-.
