BRYDONE VALEDICTORY

There was a large attendance at the Brydone hall recently when a farewell function was held in honour of Mr and Mrs H. Squires, and Mr and Mrs W. Farmer, who have disposed of their properties. The time was spent in dancing for which Mr F. McDonald was musician and Mr J. Edwards was master of ceremonies.

Mr A. J. Townley presided. He referred to the long association of their guests with the district, and to the fine community spirit they had displayed in all matters pertaining to the welfare of the district. Both families had proved excellent neighbours, but Mr and Mrs Squires would be especially missed owing to their having six children attending school. On behalf of those present Mr W. Cooney, in a short speech, presented each of the departing guests with a substantial cheque, his remarks being supported by Mrs W. Cooney and Messrs J. Archibald and F. Cooney. Both recipients replied.
