Derby Candidate
Beau Vite’s performance in running Defaulter to a short head in the Chelmsford Stakes made a deep impression, and unless there is some unexpected development the Trentham colt will be the Derby favourite. The only one now likely to dispossess him of that position is the Melbourne colt Pure Gold, who has come into the boom again almost overnight. Apart from form, there is nothing in the race better equipped on the pedigree side. Beau Pere is by Son-in-Law, while Dominant (Beau Vite’s dam) is by Martian and comes also from the remarkably successful Hebrew Maid family.
