DAIRY FACTORY MEETINGS

OWARE At the annual meeting of the Oware Dairy Factory. Company, the chairman, Mr J. N. McMillan, presided over a small attendance of shareholders. The annual report stated: — “The payment to suppliers for the season 1937-38 was estimated at 15.75 d pet lb for first grade and 15.25 d per lb for second grade. The actual payment was 16d per lb for first grade and 15.5 d per lb for second grade, making a season average of 15.75 d per lb. Advance payments to suppliers for this season have amounted to 15d per lb for first grade and 14.5 d per lb for second grade, and the estimated season average payout per lb for butterfat (all grades), which should result from the disposal of unsold cheese, is 17.5 d per lb. The valuation of cheese unsold and awaiting shipment is estimated at £5/9/- a crate, while that held in stock at the factory for local sales is estir rated at 7d per lb. “(The season’s output amounted to 120 tons, being a drop of two tons on last year’s figures, due mainly to the loss of a supplier. The directors are ve-y concerned at the continual rise in costs. This year costs per lb of butterfat to f.o.b. have risen from last year’s costs of 3.9940 d to 4.3893 d. “Messrs J. Millar and A. Thomson retire from the directorate by rotation, and being eligible, offer themselves for re-election. The retiring auditors are Messrs Cuthbertson and Osborne and they again offer their services. “Mr A. Grant retains the position of manager and to him and his staff our thanks are due for their efficiency.” The report was adopted.

Messrs J. Millar and A. Thomson were re-elected to the directorate, and Messrs Cuthl -rtson and Osborne were reelected auditors.
