NEW BARONET’S GIFTS TO HOSPITAL
ONE-TIME PENNILESS GOLD PROSPECTOR LONDON, June 8. On the eve of last night’s announcement of a baronetcy for Mr Harry Oakes, a one-time penniless gold prospector, it was revealed that he had given £lO,OOO to St. George’s hospital. He had already given the hospital £BO,OOO. One of the richest men in the world, his income is estimated at £1,000,000 a year from Canadian mines.
