POOR RESPONSE TO AUSTRALIAN LOAN
UNDERWRITERS LEFT WITH
80 PER CENT. LONDON, June 8. It is understood that the underwriters were left with 80 per cent, of the Australian loan. Quotations for the loan ranged from £1 to £l/10/- discount. The result is far worse than anyone 'anticipated, the general view yesterday being that the underwriters would not be left with more than 50 per cent. The response is most disappointing, especially in view of the success of the South African and North of Ireland issues. Speculators were apparently completely uninterested.
