LICENSING OF RENTAL CARS
APPLICATIONS HEARD AT GORE TRANSPORT AUTHORITY GIVES DECISION R. A. Ryan, of Gore, and Mutual Rental Cars, Limited, Gore, both applied for rental service licences tor operating from five to 10 cars at'a sitting of the No. 4 District Transport Licensing Authority (Mr Victor Raines) at Gore yesterday. An objection, on the grounds that he had been in business longer than Mutual Rental Cars Limited, Gore, was lodged by Mr Ryan against the granting of the licence to the latter firm for an increased number of cars. Mr Raines said that he had not granted licences for a variable number of cars. The applicant Ryan was granted a licence for seven cars and Mutual Rental Cars Limited, Gore, was granted a licence for three cars. Mrs W. H. J. Heenan, of Waikaia, was granted a licence for a rental service for one car. An. application by M. B. Jenkins (Mataura) for goods service licence for the cartage of rabbits only was granted. D. A. Coster, of Mataura, applied for a passenger service licence to carry sporting teams from Mataura to Wyndham, to Gore and to Invercargill. No objection was lodged by the Railways Department to the portion of the application relating to trips to Invercargill. Decision was reserved. Transfers of goods service licences were granted as follows:—Wylie’s Garage Limited (Tapanui), from J. C. Cameron; Finlayson Brothers (Heriot), from T. Phillips; R. and F. Wallis (1936) Limited, from R. and F. Wallis Limited; E. Clutterbuck and Son (Gore), from C. E. Clutterbuck; G. J. A. Dorricott (Gore), from J. A. Galletly.
