THEFT OF MAIL BAG

PROPERTY OF AMBERLEY GIRLS’ COLLEGIATE SCHOOL (United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, May 25. With a slit down the side and cheques worth more than £lOO missing, a mail bag belonging to the Amberley Girls’ Collegiate School was picked up by the principal, Miss Sarah Grace Hoy, on May 2. The mail bag contained two small packets. This evidence was given by Miss Hoy during the hearing of evidence against John Lee Aston, when he appeared before Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court this morning. Aston pleaded guilty to the theft of the bag, and was ommitted to the Supreme Court for sentence. On other charges of false pretences, to which he pleaded guilty, he was remanded for sentence to June 1.
