MEDICAL STAFF TO CARRY ON

CHRISTCHURCH PUBLIC HOSPITAL \ (United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, May 24. The honorary medical staff at the Christchurch public hospital is at present quite prepared to carry on indefinitely its work but in the meantime is not agreeable to discuss the question of remuneration for its duties in relation to hospital benefits under the Social Security Act. This information was contained in a report presented to the Hospital Board today by the chairman of the Hospital Committee, Sir Hugh Acland. The report mentioned that the chairman of the board, Mr L. B. Evans, had interviewed the chairman of honorary staff, who had stated the position. Sir Hugh’s report added that the Hospital Boards Association had suggested that negotiations should proceed between each board and the members of the honorary staff, but the staff chairman had replied that he had nothing further to say.
