COMBINED HUNT CLUBS

PROFIT ON YEAR’S WORKING

At the annual meeting of the combined hunt clubs delegates from the Wyndham Racing Club, Mokoreta Hunt Club, Glenham Hunt Club, Pine Bush Hunt Club and Mataura Hunt, Club were present. Mr J. McAlister presided. The annual report stated:—“Under the auspices of the Pine Bush, Glenham and Mataura branches of the Birchwood Hunt Club a successful fixture was held on the Wyndham racecourse on July 23. The programme consisted of seven races catering for professional and amateur riders, and also a pony sprint and a race for the best paced hack. After giving £4l in trophies the club finished up with a credit of £3/14/10, which must be considered satisfactory, considering the first expenses. Thanks are due to the Wyndham Racing Club for the use of its course and appointments, the Wyndham Trotting Club for the use of its meeting rooms, Begg and Company for the amplifiers and Mr Todd, of Winton, for operating them. The executive also desires to thank the women who assisted with afternoon tea and so on, and all those who came forward and helped to make the meeting a success. Thanks are also due to those who gave trophies for the fixture.” In moving the adoption of the annual report, the chairman expressed pleasure at the good attendance. It was very gratifying to see the success of the fixture, although the day had not been the best for jumping horses. The profit of £3/14/10 was also gratifying and would give them something to start the incoming year. He thanked all who had helped in running the fixture and the members of the executive for the manner in which they had assisted him during the year. The motion was seconded by Mr Holms and carried unanimously. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr J. McAlister; vice-presi-dents, Messrs W. G. Leckie, F. Milne, A, G. Ross. Holms and J. J. Ross; secretary, Mr W. Burns; assistant secretary, Mr A. A. Wilson; judge, Mr E. J. Traynor; assistant judge, Mr J. Hunter; clerk of scales, Mr P. B, Barnett; assistant, Mr V.
