BIG WRESTLERS HAVE WILLING BOUT

KIRCHMEYER WINS FROM DE MARTINEZ (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 22. Two fine big wrestlers met at the Town Hall tonight, Rollend Kirchmeyer, 6ft 7in tall and 17st 81b in weight, and Ignacio de Martinez, 6it 4in in height and 18st in weight. To set them off, the referee was Mr A. Jenkins, standing sft 4in in his shoes. Kirchmeyer won on points • after Martinez had taken a fall with a Corrigan body-slam in the fourth round and had yielded one to Kirchmeyer’s “python’s clutch” in the sixth. The bout was willing, and, for the most part, scientific. MATCHES IN AUCKLAND AUCKLAND. May 22. Two professional matches were features on the programme under the control of the Auckland Boxing Association. The first was a lightweight contest between Clarrie Gordon, of Taranaki, and Bert McKay, of Auckland, and was won by Gordon. McKay’s left eyebrow was badly cut in the sixth round, and after medical inspection he was declared unfit to continue and the decision therefore went to his opponent. In the second bout between welterweights, Don Johnson, of Auckland, and Merv Willis, of Queensland, the former won on points. DONOVAN AND BLOMFIELD DRAW DUNEDIN, May 22. In a return bout between “Lofty” Blomfield (New Zealand) and Jack Donovan (America) in the Town Hall tonight, Donovan secured a fajl with a body press in the fifth round and Blomfield equalized in the eighth with a body press, the bout ending in a draw.
