The M.C.C. announces that it is most unlikely that the Laws of Cricket will be changed to permit of the use of an eightball over before 1941. In the meantime the M.C.C. does not see any objection to the experiment being tried this year, subject to the regulations of the executive bodies concerned. The M.C.C. does not wish the schools to use an eight-ball over this season, but may ask for a trial next year. If it is thought that the experience indicates the desirability of an alteration to the rules, 13 clubs will be asked for their views at the end of the present season.
