Boxing Population Of Europe
Amateur boxing is numerically stronger in England than in America, according to official figures released by the International Amateur Boxing Federation. England, with 400 clubs, has no fewer than 50,000 registered boxers, followed by America, 2000 clubs and 27,000 boxers. The difference in the number of clubs is an amazing feature of these official figures. Other countries and their registrations are as follows:— Denmark, 5000 boxers in 82 clubs. Finland, 7000 boxers in 113 clubs. Norway, 3850 boxers in 60 clubs. Sweden, 2500 boxers in 98 clubs. Estonia, 2010 boxers in 57 clubs. Germany, 15,560 boxers in 750 clubs. Italy, 12,130 boxers in 600 clubs. Poland, 7100 boxers in 146 clubs. This gives a total of 132,150 boxers registered in the countries named.
