CHARGE OF ASSAULT

SLAUGHTERMAN REMANDED (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 22. Raymond George McKenzie, aged 34, a slaughterman, appeared before Mr' C. R. Orr-Walker, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court today charged with assault so as to cause actual bodily harm. Detective-Sergeant Walsh, in asking for a remand until March 30, said it was alleged that a young married woman was struck on the head with a bottle and otherwise badly ill-treated. The accused had not been in any trouble before, but if bail was asked for he would suggest that it be substantial. Counsel applied for bail and the Magistrate granted a remand, fixing bail at £l5O.
