STRONG MILITIA ADVOCATED
DEFENCE NEEDS OF AUSTRALIA LOWER RETIRING AGES FOR OFFICERS (Received March 15, 7.10 p.m.) CANBERRA, March 15. The Inspector-General of the Australian Military Forces (LieutenantGeneral Squires) in a report to the Federal Government emphasizes the importance of establishing a militia on a sound formation so that it could meet a major form of aggression. Other recommendations which have been approved by the Federal Government include lower retiring ages for officers and a supplementary list to which officers can be transferred at a special rate of pay.
