Williams, Norwood, Waikiwi, returned north on Saturday. Misses Helen Ritchie and Peggy Boyce have returned from Oamaru, where they were the guests of Mrs J. Lady Myers, of London, widow of Sir Arthur Myers, arrived at Auckland • last week by the Mariposa. She will stay with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr and Mrs Kenneth Myers, St. Hehers, for several months. The Rev. D. N. Mac Diarmid, director of missions of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, and his wife, who is

a Doctor of Literature, returned to Wellington last week after a tour of the East, where they had some exciting experiences.

J./ Weir (Thornbury), Miss Vera Henry (Dunedin), Miss Gladys McLean (Gore), Miss D. Teviotdale (Isla Bank) and Mr G. A. Anderson (Waipiata).

After spending a year in England under the exchange system of the League of the Empire, three New Zealand school teachers returned to the Dominion by the Oronsay last week. They were Miss Ruth Sheat, French mistress at Nelson Girls’ College; Miss S. C. Ferrier, of Methven, Canterbury; and Miss N. M. Glover, of Wellington. Oh Wednesday Mr and Mrs T. J. Exeter, of Napier, celebrated their platinum wedding, the sixty-fifth anniversary of their wedding. Mr Exeter is .86 years old and can still read the newspapers without glasses. Mrs Exeter is 84, and both vividly remember thenvoyage of 120 days from London to Napier in 1874, just after they were married. They have lived in Napier ever since their arrival, and in the same street for more than 60 years. Visitors from Germany who arrived at Auckland by the Mariposa last week were Baroness K. von Oertzen, of Dresden, and her husband, who will spend several months in the Dominion as part of an extended holiday tour, states The New Zealand Herald. They have already been to South Africa and India, where they went big-game hunting, and have since visited Australia. Baroness von Oertzen has many interests. She graduated as a doctor of political science at Munich University, and has written several travel books. “I have written books about India and Africa, and one day, perhaps, there will be one about New Zealand,” she said. While in Australia Baroness von Oertzen gave 30 broadcast lectures about her experiences while big-game hunting. “Actually I do not do much of the hunting, but I watch my husband and take colour films,” she said.
