PRICE FOR 1938 WHEAT CROP

The final payment of 3d a bushel on the’ 1938 wheat crop will be made on Tuesday, stated the Minister of Industries and Commerce (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan) tonight. This would bring the total payment for the 1938 crop up to 5/9 a bushel, f.0.b., Tuscan-March basis, and involved the distribution of more than £60,000 among wheat growers. The Minister emphasized the need of the Dominion being self-contained for wheat supplies. “In the event of war, shipping difficulties could arise which might be very serious if we depend on overseas sources for our food supplies,” he said.
