RIVERTON’S ATTRACTIONS

To The Editor

Sir,—l have travelled fairly extensively in New Zealand and I have come to the considered opinion that Southland’s most picturesque, sheltered and safe beach within fairly easy reach of Invercargill is Riverton. Its bays, separated bv irregular rocky buttresses, provide natural bathing beaches and give what is always important on any beach—shelter. Riverton should wake up and clamour for just recognition of a beach richly endowed by nature. The people should agitate for the electrification of the line from the city so that may carry speedily and cheaply thousands of men, women and children to regain health in the fleecy, invigorating waves at the Rocks.—Yours, etc., VISITOR. February 3, 1938.
