COST OF BUTTERBOXES

PROTEST BY COMPANIES (United Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, February 6. Reasons for the present high cost of butterboxes was sought at a special meeting of all the butter manufacturing companies in the Wellington and Hawke’s Bay provinces as shareholders in the Dominion Producers’ Co-opera-tive Agency Ltd. The chairman of directors Mr S. A. Broadbelt, of Levin, nresided Mr W. Linton, district memberof the Dairy Produce Board, Mr T. C Brash, secretary, and Mr McConnon, of the Internal Marketing Department, were present. . , . . , , The chairman said the subject had caused a great deal of anxiety during the past year or two. Definite action was needed. After a long discussion on comparative prices it was decided that an emphatic protest be made to the Government against the continued increases in the price of butterboxes, which would considerably reduce the return to the producers supplying factories.
