The Hon. Edmund Dwyer-Gray, M.H.A., Deputy-Premier of Tasmania and Treasurer to the Tasmanian Government, arrived at Bluff by the Maunganui yesterday en route to Melbourne. He is accompanied by his secretary (Mr J. R. Quinn). The Hon. T. F. Doyle, M.L.C., of Bluff, and the Hon. T. O’Byrne, M.L.C., and Mrs O’Byrne were the guests of Mr DwyerGray, at morning tea on the Maunganui.

Sir William Hunt and Lady Hunt, Wellington, arrived in Invercargill last night. They are staying at the Grand Hotel. '

Mr N. S. Falla, chairman and managing director of the Union Steam Ship Company, Ltd., paid a visit to Bluff yesterday morning and left later for (he north.

The Hon. Mr Justice Johnston will arrive in Invercargill today and will preside at a sitting of the Court of Review tomorrow.

Mr James Hargest, M.P., will, leave by the express this morning on his way to Wellington where he will attend a caucus of the National Party. Mr Hargest will return to Invercargill on Friday night. The Bishop of Dimedin (the Rt. Rev. W. A. R. Fitchett) has announced the appointment of the Rev. B. O, Plumb as vicar of the Waimea Plains parochial district, in succession to the Rev. H. Fallows, who is leaving for England. Mr W. T. Hazlett will leave by the Maunganui this morning for Melbourne.

Mr Gordon J. Reed arrived at Bluff by the Maunganui yesterday from Wellington. Mr H. J. Roderique accompanied Captain R. J. Hamilton to Stewart Island yesterday morning and took command of the Tamatea at Half Moon Bay. Captain Hamilton will remain at Stewart Island for several days for the salvaging of the sunken whale chaser Star V and in his absence Mr Roderique will be in command of the Tamatea.

Mr G. C. Israel. M.Sc., A.1.C., lecturer at the University of Hobart, was a passenger by the Maunganui for Melbourne.

Mr John Hamer, of Dunedin, is visiting Invercargill as manager of the Nicola company.
