ROWING
CHAMPION EIGHTS ON NEPEAN RIVER SYDNEY, February 5. The season’s most important rowing race at the Nepean river regatta on Saturday, the New South Wales champion eights, was won by the Haberfield crew by one length from Pittwater, which was second. The Police crew was third. The title-holders. North Shore, finished fifth. The time was 17min 18sec. Haberfield also won the maiden fours (one mile), and the light-weight maiden fours (one mile). The light-weight fours was won by Balmain, after a re-row with Mosman, with whom it had tied.
A surprising- result was the heavyweight champion sculls, which was won by C. Pearce, who beat the police champion, Herb Turner, by 20 lengths, his time being 20min 41 3-ssec.
