CZECHS ISSUE LOAN FOR DEFENCE
GERMAN PLEDGE TO EMPLOY 42,000 WORKERS
(Received February 4, 7.10 p.m.) PRAGUE, February 3.
The Czech Government has issued an internal defence loan of £14,700,000 to cover army supplies and to defray unpaid defence works to November 17. The sale of army stocks is expected to cover the issue.
Germany, under an agreement with the Government, undertakes to employ permanently 42,000 Czech workers. Czechoslovakia is budgeting for a defence expenditure of £10,300,000, compared with £8,000,000 last year.
