YACHT CAPSIZES IN HARBOUR

CREW RESCUED BY DINGHY MISHAP TO VORENA AT BLUFF When her spinnaker fouled and caused her to nose-dive into the water, the yacht Vorena capsized in Bluff harbour yesterday afternoon, and her skipper, Mr J. Shannon, owner of the craft, and her crew of two were thrown into the water. The ebb tide was carrying the vessel down from the dredge wharf while the skipper and crew clung to the overturned craft. Three boys who saw the accident set out in a dinghy from the shore to give assistance, while the other yachts on the harbour—the Kia Ora, owned by the Cunningham brothers, and the Rosita, owned by the Budd brothers — stood by. A second dinghy, containing Mr A. E. Budd, president of the Bluff Yacht Club, and Messrs T. Finnerty and H. McQuarrie, also went to the aid of the crew. The members of the Vorena’s crew were rescued and rowed ashore in Mr Budd’s dinghy. Mr F. J. Biggs’s Eureka, one of three launches appoaching the scene, towed the Vorena to the boat-shed, where she was finally refloated. The accident was seen by most or the residents on the hill at the west end of the town.' The occupants of the boat remained clinging to the hull of the vessel for about half an hourbefore they were rescued. None of them was any the worse for the experience. The Vorena is the yacht which represented Southland last month in the Sanders Cup contest.
