WANDERERS BEAT MATAURA MATCH FOR' J. H. CLARK CUP A match between the Mataura Cricket Club and the Wanderers for the J. H. Clark Cup was won by the latter by 22 runs. The first meeting of the year < i the Mataura branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was marked by a visit to Mr Burrows’s . .rsery ?-i Gore, about 20 members making the visit. Members were unanimous in their appreciation of the many beautiful flowers and shrubs seen. The roses in particular were greatly admired. A tour of the gardens and visits to gardens on the rise above the nursery belonging to Mr Burrows, sen., and his brother were made. Mrs C. D. Taylor (president) thanked Mr Burrows on behalf of members. During the meeting motions of sympathy were passed with Mesdames W. Clearwater and T. Major. A committee was appointed to take charge of the local bay at the show. The monthly flower competition was judred by Mr Burrows and was won by Mrs W. L. Scott, Mrs Hocking being second. CARD EVENING There was a good attendance at the opening night of the Mataura Volunteer Fire Brigade card evenings. The winners were Mrs A. Gourley and Mr A. Lloyd.
