SOUTHLAND HEALTH CAMP

ARRANGEMENTS COMPLETE At a meeting of the Southland Health Camp Committee the conveners of the various committees reported that all arrangements had been made for the opening of the camp at Omaui on December 29. Children proceeding to the first camp are to be at the Health Department’s room in Esk street at 10.0 a.m. on December 29 tc be medically examined. Donations towards the health camp funds were acknowledged from the following:—lnvercargill Girl Guides, Mataura Borough Council, Registered Nurses, Southland County Council, Bluff Harbour Board, Bluff Borough Council, Invercargill City Council, Southland Labour and Trades Unions, Southland Technical College ExStudents’ Association, Invercargill Savings Bank, women of Balfour, Gore District Committee, Southland War Funds Association. Donations of clothing and other articles from various women’s associations and church gujlds were thankfully received. An appeal was made to the public for fresh vegetables and fruit for the camp. Rhubarb and gooseberries were especially required. Goods could be left at Mr W. T. Gilbert’s building in Kelvin street. Mr Gilbert had provided part of his premises for a food depot.
