SWITZERLAND PLANS BALANCED BUDGET

ECONOMIES APPROVED BY PLEBISCITE BERNE, November 27. The Federal plebiscite resulted, 507,000 voters being in favour of the Government’s plan to balance the Budget in three years; the negative vote was 194,000. The Young Peasant and Communist parties recommended rejection of the plan. Fifty-six per cent, of the electorate polled. The plans include a tax on national defence and the taxation of capital yields at their source. 'Hie plans are expected to make economies of £5,400,000 and to bring in new revenue amounting to £6,600,000 a year.
