BALLOT FOR WORKERS’ REPRESENTATIVE

(United Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 2C. Mr P. M. Butler has been nominated by the Wellington Trades Council to contest a ballot for the workers representative at the international Labour conference at Geneva next year. Six names were submitted to the meeting: Messrs F. P. Walsh, J. Baxter, J. Moulton, E. Canham, P. M. Butler and J. Roberts (Christchurch). Messrs Walsh and Baxter withdrew. The executive of the Federation of Labour called for a nominee from each of the 18 affiliated trades councils. After the nominations have been received they are to be submitted to the trades councils which are to be asked to select one representative who will become the workers’ representative at the conference.
