The best scores for the day were made by Barron (Gore), who scored 80, and O’Shea (Gore), who scored 72. Gore beat Wyndham at Gore, and Celtic beat Waikoikoi at Waikoikoi. Results are as follows:— GORE BATSMEN IN FORM WYNDHAM BEATEN BY BIG MARGIN The Gore team put up a big score in its match against Wyndham on the hostel grounds and beat the latter team by a margin of more than 200 runs. Wyndham batted first and made a bad start losing six wickets for 22 runs. A stand by Shepherd improved the position considerably, but the whole side was dismissed before the century was reached. Currie was in form with the ball for Gore and he secured four wickets for 18 runs. Gore also started badly and lost three wickets for 33 runs, the side’s most prominent batsman, Macara, being included in the first three to be dismissed. Macara did not get going at all and scored only 13 runs. O’Shea again camt to light, however, and scored another big total, being dismissed finally when his score stood at 72. The side had six wickets down for 118 runs and it appeared that it would be all out for about 150, but Adair and Barron made a last wicket stand and scored more than 100 runs for the partnership. Barron gave a good display of hard hitting and scored 80 runs before he was dismissed. He was dropped several times, but the luck was with him and his score mounted steadily. His total included seven fours and three sixes. Adair played a sound innings and score 40, being undefeated at the close of the innings. Details:— WYNDHAM T ompson c Dey b Currie 0 J.
