SALE OF HEALTH STAMPS

The campaign for the sale of health stamps is again here. The health stamp is now so well established as the convenient method of contributing to the cost of the children’s health camp in New Zealand that its sales maintain a steady volume. The full amount accruing to Southland from the sale of stamps in the province is returned by the Government to the Health Camp Association here, the sum received from this source being substantial; therefore, any outlay in buying stamps benefits the health camp movement in Southland.

Later a permanent camp will be established at Roxburgh, in addition to the local camp, in view of which it is very necessary io build up funds to finance children who may require to be sent to the Roxburg camp when it becomes available, probably towards the end of 1939.

In an endeavour to promote the sale of stamps the health camp executive again proposes to engage the services of suitable canvassers. These are returned soldiers and any sales made by them will be assisting both the men and the health camps. Business houses, as well as private residents, are requested to take their requirements in stamps through the accredited canvassers who will call in due course.

Experience of past appeals creates the expectation that the health camps will be generously remembered during the Christmas season of goodwill and that even better results will be shown during the present year.
