COUNTRY WEEK AT DUNEDIN NORTH OTAGO BEGINS GAME AGAINST SOUTHLAND (Special to The Times) DUNEDIN, November 25.’ The second day’s fixtures for the Country Cricket Week brought together two good teams in Southland and North Otago this morning, but the latter shaped disappointingly against fast bowling. In the match between Vincent and South Otago the southerners were progressing fairly well when rain fell and play stopped for the day. The match between Southland and North Otago was begun on the University Oval in dullish weather. North Otago batted first and Dick and King took the score slowly to 21, when Dick was bowled by Purdue. Geddes, who followed, went at 29, and from that point Purdue and McKenzie were decidedly on top of the batting. Kinder, yesterday’s century-maker, put up something of a stand with Paape and, after an hour and • a-haif, the first change was made in the bowling with 60 up for six wickets. Forde came on in place of Purdue. With 65 up for seven wickets, an adjournment was made at 12.20 p.m. because of rain, and there was no resumption before lunch. McKenzie (four for 21) and Purdue (three for 33) bowled exceedingly well. Details:—

SOUTH OTAGO v. VINCENT South Otago batted first against Vincent, but made a poor start, Baxter and Tomkinson being out early. Plew, Smith and R. Stewart improved the position slightly, but Mount was bowling remarkably well. Parker livened up the score towards the adjournment and was not out for 32 when the bails were lifted. At this stage five wickets had fallen for 109, Mount having taken them all at a cost of 39 funs. Details:—
