SOLID WORK AT RICCARTON

FAST FIVE FURLONGS BY SCUFFLE (Special to The Times) CHRISTCHURCH, November 24. Conditions were ideal for track work at Riccarton today and a lot of solid work, mainly' in view of the Ashburtoi. County Racing Club’s fixture on Saturday, was done on the plough and on the inside of the trial grass. ON THE PLOUGH Wild Chase, Paper Slipper, Trench Fight, Counterblast, Great Swoop and Winning Rival, of the trustees of Sir Charles Cilfford’s stable, who-are likely to be racing in the North Island during the holidays, were all given strong exercise.

Keen Sight finished well in front of Happy Memory at the end of five furlongs in Imin 3 4-ssec. Scuffle drew attention to her prospects on Saturday by reeling off five furlongs in Imin 2 3-ssec. Lady Leigh easily accounted for Golden Chest over five furlongs in Imin 2 3-ssec, the last four in 50 2-ssec

Under a special arrangement Dictate and Manetho galloped seven furlongs on the outside of the course proper and they kept together throughout in the good time of Imin 28 4-ssec, the last four in 50 3-ssec. ON THE TRIAL GRASS Metal Bird and Bit o’ Blue were companions over six furlongs in Imin 17 4-ssec and this time was later equalled by La Plata and Amoretto. Miracle and Chateaubriand reeled off half a mile in 48 3-ssec and Dropped Catch and Cape Gabo recorded 50 4-ssec, a time that was equalled by Maroha. Passenger was well in front of The Duel at the end of five furlongs in Imin 5 l-ssec, Alcatraz and a Robespierrt gelding joining in over the last four. Nigella finished slightly in front of Real Lady and Chanteur after covering five furlongs in Imin 3 4-ssec. Dracula strode over seven furlongs in Imin 29 3-ssec.
