12 Calls Attended
The Invercargill .'‘ire brigade attended 12 calls between October 21 and November 21, according to the report of the superintendent (Mr F. S. Simpson) presented to the monthly meeting of the Fire Board yesterday. The calls included seven to building fires, two to chimney fires, two to justifiable false alarms and one to an automatic false alarm.
Work of Travel Association
Newspaper criticism in Auckland of the work of the South Islands Travel Association was deplored by Mr C. B. Tapley at a meeting of the Bluff Harbour Board last evening. The North Island, he said, appeared rather parochial in its attitude towards the tourist traffic. The association had hard and important work ahead of it and should have the support of all local bodies in the South Island.
