GIRL FOUND DEAD ON FARM

(United Press Association) TAUMARUNUI, November 23. On a farm at Te Whakarae near Taumarunui, Maisie Rogers,_ aged 16, was found near the house with a bullet wound in the head. A pea-rifle was found beside the body. The girl was the adopted daughter of Howard John Rogers, . who, with his wife, was milking when the tragedy occurred. The inquest was opened and adjourned. INJURIES FROM EXPLOSION OF POWDER (United Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, November 23. Serious injuries to his head and face were suffered by Thomas Mills, aged 28, a farmer of Pembroke road, Stratford, this afternoon when blasting powder stored in a shed on the farm of his father, Mr A. M. Mills, exploded prematurely. He was admitted to the Stratford Hospital, where he was reported tonight to be in a satisfactory condition. LEFT HAND BLOWN OFF (United Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, November 23. The left hand of Donald Valentine, aged 15, of Mangorei road, New Plymouth, was blown off this afternoon by the explosion of home-made gunpowder, which he struck with a hammer. After an operation in the New Plymouth Hospital his condition was reported to be satisfactory.
